In 2011, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. As a mother, teacher, and someone actively involved in my community, the stroke shook the foundation of my world. But it didn’t define me. What defined me was my reaction—how I chose to heal, adapt, and find new blessings in this challenging chapter of my life.
Today, I’m not only walking again, but I’m also sharing my story with others in hopes that it brings comfort, understanding, and inspiration. My journey of recovery was long, but through love, support, and a strong belief in the power of resilience, I found my way. I’m a mother of three, a dedicated educator, and an author determined to remind people that hope can be found even in the most trying of times.

Sara Jane is in my first Zoom discussion group. She sent this tonight: So here’s my story:
“On Saturday following our group discussion, I went out and ran errands for my respite kids. When I got home, I ran into a lady( younger than me) who was in the parking lot unloading her car along with her son. + Husband who was wheelchair-bound. I had not met them before, but they moved into my building a few weeks ago and I had yet to meet them. They live right across the hall from me. I helped her with some of her things, and provided assistance with getting her husband into the elevator, as it seemed she was having a difficult time. Time. She then proceeded to tell me that she was just bringing her husband home from the hospital for the first time. Since he had a stroke in January. I couldn’t believe it. They moved into my building as they are no longer able to live in their home for multiple reasons, mostly because of accessibility. Once we got upstairs to her unit, I immediately ran across the hallway and told her that I had something for her that she could borrow and proceeded to give her my copy of your book. I have seen her several times since now and she said things are going better than she expected they would be. She also told me how grateful she was that she met me and that she knows somebody in the building, especially somebody who lives so close to her. God at work in so many ways. Note, he has speech and site impairment. I’m not sure what other impairments he has, but it is heartbreaking. I honestly don’t know how I would have handled and will continue to be there for her if I had not had the opportunity to read your book that has provided me with so much insight. Thank you.”

Hi Liv, I am about halfway through your book. Just finished where you drove to the airport to pick up Patty. I read during my 2 breaks and lunch and am having a hard time putting it down. The thing most humans don’t think about is what you’re going through and reading it through your perspective helps people see the true struggles you had to go through. I have laughed and cried, mainly cried, and want you to know you have a way with words. I’m so proud of you…oh and not that I have had a pleasure of meeting Mark, but I truly love him so being so loving and caring to you. Will let you know when I am done. Mom read it in about 2 days. I love you my cousin!

There are not enough words to describe how difficult this book was to put down… not the least of which is because | personally know the author, Liv Rosin! (And yes, | used an exclamation point there, Liv, but only one.)
If you have ever struggled with anything in your life, even if it’s not specifically a stroke, there is something powerful to learn from Liv’s story.
I could go on and on … but I’ll just say, do yourself a huge favor and read this book.
